Plug Pulled by Media?

The image represents millions of often “free cash cow” ways to reach billions, accessible to everyone yet advocates like myself recently failed on helping America’s 5-Star rated Electric Vehicle (EV), the Volt. Nearly all of the EV social media advocates agreed the Volt had all of the elements of success and was only going to get better with time. Yet the fault was in the messengers. It was our job to tell the world a shining star was being born and we failed. And why did we fail?

Let’s look at the others who could have helped professionals who advocate EV’s and contribute heavily to social media. Almost every day we get press releases from “Departments” awarding millions in cash, prizes, grants. In fact, the Department of Energy sent this release today. “Today, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) announced two new prizes as part of its Manufacturing Innovator Challenge, an effort to crowdsource solutions for next generation manufacturing to increase energy productivity and strengthen America’s industrial base. While the EPA released a $1.5M for it’s EJSG program awards grants that support community-driven projects designed to engage, educate, and empower communities to better understand local environmental and public health issues and develop strategies for addressing those issues, building consensus in the community, and setting community priorities. The money is there to advocate EV’s which would help consumers learn and purchase yet just not trickling down to the social media EV advocates.

My point is we ALL have the social media at our fingertips. Some of us use it every day to advocate. If the Departments who also advocate EV’s work together, there would be less fail. Perhaps saving, even creating more Green jobs. And if we try hard enough, more shining stars like the Volt to clean up the planet.

Stay tuned, a Reiki Master is coming soon to help with the incoming New Moon and holler day season!
